Tests, Quizzes and Grades
- Tests and quizzes count as the largest part of your student’s total grade.
- There will be a quiz after every 3 or 4 lessons.
- There will be a vocabulary test and a skills test at the end of each unit.
- Study guides will be given in class and/or made available online.
- Studying for tests and quizzes is extremely important.
- Each unit takes about 6 weeks, so you may only have two test grades in a marking period.
- Students will be given until the end of the marking period to finish all assignments. Once the marking period is over that assignment will be given a zero and counted as missing.
- All assignments will be given a recommended due date. It is best to follow these recommendations to ensure your student is completing assignments before quizzes and tests.
- Assignments will be marked as missing after the recommended due date to encourage students to keep up with their assignments.
- Students are not penalized if an assignment is turned in past the recommended due date. There is no late penalty.
- Assignments build on each other. D.R.C’s get you ready for quizzes and quizzes get you ready for tests.
- Use Skyward and www.Quia.com to see if assignments are completed.
- Almost all graded assignments are done on www.Quia.com. Expect completed assignments to be “held” in Quia for several days before being graded and then recorded in Skyward.
- Assignments will be graded and posted shortly after the recommended due date. Assignments completed after the recommended due date will be graded at my convenience.
- If you don’t see a grade for an assignment in Skyward or it’s marked missing, check Quia to see if it's finished. If it’s finished in Quia, consider it complete and waiting for me to grade. Remember, students have until 3:00 on the last day of the marking period to complete all assignments.
- Retesting can be done for any end of unit test with a score below 70%. I will record the average of the two scores. Retesting procedures must be followed.
- Tests and quizzes must be completed during normal school hours. If taken outside of normal school hours no score will be given. (Exceptions may be made for special circumstances.)
